Recreating the American Dream by Justin de Leon
Justin de Leon took a trip to a Native American reserve and discussed how his trip there made him contemplate the American Dream. he and friend went to see President Barack Obama speak. He said the the American dream should be achievable to everyone to inspire the indigenous peoples which consumed him audience. After the speech, de Leon was speaking to one of his friends and she said that she doesn't want the American dream. She wants more. She believed that the American dream was made of, "jealousy, greed, judgment, death, having to work three jobs just to make ends meet" (Recreating the american Dream). She would love the American dream to represent, "a world of compassion, goodness, relationships and spiritual aspects instead of materialistic aspects" (Recreating the American Dream). Terrance Wise feels the same way because he had to work two jobs for sixteen hours a day and still barely makes ends meet (When Working 2 fast Food Jobs, 16 Hours a day Sill isn't Enough).
Justin de Leon used pathos by sharing his friends negative feelings about the American dream, how she did not like it, and how she wanted it to be changed.
